Even after a careful wash, the paintwork can still hold embedded contaminants such as tar residue, pollution, sap or industrial fallout that are invisible to the naked eye. These particles alter the feel of the surface and prevent a protection from bonding properly.

Its specific surface picks up and lifts these contaminants without resorting to a traditional clay bar, while offering a simpler and faster handling.

Used with a suitable lubricant or a well-lubricated shampoo, it glides over the surface and removes embedded impurities, leaving paintwork that is smoother to the touch. This step is essential before applying a wax, a sealant, a hydrocoat or a ceramic protection, in order to optimise their durability and finish, or before polishing, whether as a one-step or a multi-stage correction.

The Shine Decontamination Mitt is aimed at anyone looking to improve the quality of their preparation.

Durability: reusable a great number of times, this mitt lasts up to 5 times longer than traditional clay bars, making it an economical and practical solution for maintaining your car.

  1. Wash the vehicle thoroughly beforehand.
  2. Use the mitt with a dedicated lubricant or a heavily diluted shampoo.
  3. Work area by area, with straight movements and without excessive pressure.
  4. Rinse the mitt and the surface regularly.
  5. Then dry the vehicle before any other step.

    Our advice:

First use: start with the windows to break the mitt in.
After decontamination: rinse both sides of the mitt thoroughly with clean water.

Good to know: Never use the mitt dry. Always work with plenty of lubrication. Do not apply pressure. Do not use on hot paintwork or in direct sunlight. Test on an inconspicuous area if in doubt, particularly on sensitive paint.

Frequently asked questions

Is this mitt suitable for every surface?

The Shine Decontamination Mitt is compatible with most clear-coated paints and painted exterior surfaces. On matte paint, vinyl wraps or very delicate surfaces, carry out a test first.

What is the difference with a traditional clay bar?

The mitt offers simpler handling, faster use and generally better durability. A clay bar allows more precise work on certain areas, but requires more technique and more care.
The two can be complementary during a decontamination.

How often should a vehicle be decontaminated?

A decontamination is generally recommended once or twice a year, or before applying a protection. More frequent use is not necessary on a properly maintained vehicle.
